Annaberg Plantation with Rainbow, St. John, USVI

Annaberg Plantation with Rainbow, St. John, USVI

By Emily St. Amant

This painting was inspired by a day we visited the Annaberg Plantation ruins on the eastern part of the island of St. John. We got to see a rainbow in the same place depicted here between some outer islands over the water. These ruins are that of a historic sugar plantation, with the wind mill featured, and it is part of the Virgin Islands National Park. I encourage people to read about the brutality of slavery and the brave resistance of the enslaved people of St. John. The original watercolor painting is by Emily St. Amant, completed in 2024. ~~~ Products in additional sizes, materials, and item types are available.
